Jordan Fuchs Company Trace (2016)

Trace is a 22-minute duet choreographed by Jordan Fuchs that emerges from contact improvisation based partnering scores focusing on under and over surfaces of the body as entry points into qualities of lightness, delicacy and precision. Painstakingly recreated from videotaped improvisation sessions, the duet extends the performers’ perception of touch beyond the confines of the skin and out into space. Composer Andy Russ provides an original sound composition that builds and diminishes sonic distortions like giant ocean swells.

This research was then painstakingly recreated from video, resulting in a highly refined and precise movement vocabulary of solo and partnering work that functions to extend and amplify the performers’ perception of touch into space, beyond the limits of the skin. www.jordanfuchs.org
